ATL MC’s DG Yola & Sean Falyon @ Django, Atlanta Live with XO Band

DG Yola Live with XO Band @ Django

The thing about Atlanta is that the party never starts until about 12:30. The club begins to look like a barren wasteland anytime before the witching hour in this city. You’d think that my past as a promoter and my present as an avid party-seeker/event-goer would prepare me for this. It should be old hat. It isn’t. Friday night I sat bored out my mind waiting for the show to start. It was 12am. There was nearly nobody on the basement level of Django’s. There were a few people upstairs having a late supper and sharing drinks. It was a nice atmosphere on the second and third levels of the club on Friday. Downstairs was depressing. Then all of a sudden the flood gates opened. Beautiful women began pouring through the doors on either side of the dancefloor as if on cue by some sacred sound gone unnoticed by yours truly. I didn’t complain. I now had subjects to shoot and the show could start. The XO Band warmed up a chilly early-spring crowd pretty quickly. ATL-based MC Sean Falyon came out and did a great set- bringing some energy and doing some favorites off his mixtape before going into a freestyle medley. The star of the night, of course, was DG Yola. Back from the near-dead he had this message for his fans, “Without y’all, I wouldn’t be here.” This , a humble moment, following a show full of all the wanton braggadicio a Westside Atlanta resident such as myself could have wanted. The show was off the chain. Don’t believe me?  Check out the pics.
