I completely agree, I was a big fan of the book series. I thought this might have potential upon hearing that they were releasing a series based on the Sword of Truth. However, after only watching a few trailers for the first episode, I already noticed many inconsistencies from the books. I watched a partial episode that was recorded tonight, because I missed the first couple and thought to myself I could pickup easily with the show based on my knowledge of the storyline. I had to turn it off after only 10 minutes because I was disgusted and couldn’t follow the plot because it had been changed so much. I can’t believe Terry Goodkind would endorse something like this.

and darken rahl was blonde dammit, and he was best friends with zedd! i mean he memorized the book for gods sake how the hell are they gonna fix that

The only part they got right is she is rather pretty, strinkingly gorgeous, and if THATS ALL they got right… We are in for a world of hurt every episode….

I loved the books soooo much that I tried to watch a horribly made TV show. Then I realized that I really could not stand watching anymore. I hope Terry G. understands what his loyal readers are being put through. I am very sad. The Seeker, named by Zed, Killed by Sam Rimi.

Yeah I had to TiVo the first episode, was excited to see it when I sat down to finally watch it and shut it off less than halfway through it. Confessors were created to PROTECT Seekers?! WTF! Are you kidding, Richard thinks Zedd is an old man who lives in the woods; and a the list goes on with all the other BS that was changed from the book and doesn’t match up at all. Someone commented that the ONLY thing they got right was who they cast for Kahlan and I agree, she is very close to what she should be but Richard; he’s a boy. I haven’t watched anything els at this point and don’t intend to.

I too was willing to watch it with an open mind and leave my expectations at the door (same as with X-men) but wow. I DID read that Raimi said the episodes for TV have to have a beginning middle and end. While I don’t necessarily agree with that I was willing to let it go and watch the first few. Richard doesn’t know Zed, doesn’t know the book, Darken Rahl is a short whiny englishman, Kahlan’s a brunette, no Quads, the catapult and the barrier…*sigh* So much storyline and dialogue to pull from , I really don’t understand the need to make stuff up. This is testament to the imagination being better than any special effects.

WTF! This is a horrible adaptation. I too was really looking forward to seeing the characters come to life on the screen. It’s a good thing I can easily turn it off. I thought I would give a couple of episodes to redeem itself but alas, no such luck. So much deviation, so heartbreaking. Thanks Raimi, thanks a lot.

He became way too allegorical with his last books…it became about making a statement about the idiocy of man instead of this epic tale we all wanted.

He should’ve rehashed the whole ‘chimes’ saga…bringing it up again in books 7 through end when it happened on book 2* breeds confusion

Dear lord this new Kahlan is not even a 10% of what she is actually like. All the characters aren’t really it’s all corny and fake. If you’re watching this for the sam raimi feel, then you’ll love it. If your trying to watch something with real depth and meaning, run away from this piece of trash.

I feel bad for the actors getting put into all of this. But, they should have at least checked out the books to get a feel of what it was like originally.

When I first heard Sam Raimi was producing, I had a bad feeling in my stomach. I was afraid he would turn the book into Xena in Sword of Truth clothing. Thats exactly what he did. I don’t get the sense of nobility, the love of life, that Richard exudes in the books. When I see the tv show, I can only think of Richard as Robin, the boy wonder, from the original Batman. Very disappointed. The book is long enough they could have produced a credible series, but Raimi appears to be trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator of television viewer.

I’ll continue to watch the show.. maybe Raimi will pull the show back on course, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

I think Richards encounter with Denna will be paramount to the series. Richard doesn’t become truly transformed until then. If Raimi botches that, the he will have lost the heart of the story and who Richard will be.

totally agree on all of these points. there is no story here. its just awful what they did to this story. im watching it and getting nautious

Nooooooooooooooooooo! What have they done?!!?!!! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE!! How could they?! WHY would they!? WHY!!
Have they lost their senses? Have they lost all sense of subjectivity and respect for the readers who have dedicated long hours in consuming the written work of Goodkind? With complete disregard they have slaughtered, butchered, raped, desecrated all its significance with one fell swoop. The binding story of Richard and Kahlan has been made into a parody for the mourning fans to witness.

I turned on my television today to see the second episode. Immediately I recognized that this was the infamous series I had heard would be made to represent the series I had so fondly held dear to my heart. At first I was a bit disgruntled at seeing what would be the mother confessor, because I had my heart set on auditioning for the part, if ever the day came that this series would be created, however to my dismay, there was no way to find out where and how to audition, alas, there I am staring at the leading lady in even more dismay. She’s Horrible! Her demeanor completely fails to capture the regal stoicism and strength that Kahlan carries in the book. As I’m watching the chase scene, from which Richard first sees her, I’m ever MORE dismayed to see that this boy is who I’m supposed to believe to be the seeker of truth. Okay, okay, lets hope that I can look beyond appearance and hope that somehow their performance will carry something to sway the tide. WRONG. That scene that binds Richard and Kahlan’s fate together forever is swatted into cheesy dialogue with two actors who could not lack more chemistry if they actually tried. If we can’t believe in the love of these two, how the hell are we supposed to care about the entire series?! Then I too witness the complete botchery of story… Richard’s father alive, Zedd a loony stranger, Zedd indifferent at seeing the Kahlan, Kahlan HANDING Richard the book of counted shadows!! Whoa, whoa, whoa, right there the entire significance of Richard’s father’s death is completely diminished, as well as the pivotal importance Richard now becomes to Darken Rahl, because only he knows the true words to the book, only he, PPPSSSHH, there goes the entire novel into the flames right there. From that moment forth the series is DEAD, and there’s no bringing back this one! Horrible casting on Zedd I might add, where’s the BAGS!! Or him teaching Richard the Wizard’s rules through the example of the ignorant village? The playfulness of him, the protectiveness he has over Richard, the dangerous side as Wizard Zorander, then back to his impish and joyful obsession for food?! Where’sRichard’s relationship with chase, or Kahlan and the apple… .or Shar? Or her fear of Darken Rahl and Richard bringing her back from the darkness.. and the intense attraction between them… her secret smile for him…. AAAAaaaagh?!!! Richard lacks the intensity in his eyes, marked with his charming win em’ all smile. He’s supposed to be muscular and big… Hugh Jackman big, sorry this kid doesn’t cut it! And the D’haran soldiers are supposed to look massive and blonde! As for Darken Rahl, Ugh, why bother, the whole thing is a disaster! A complete and total disaster! Now I’m relieved I didn’t audition for this garbage, on the other hand I’m mourning the death of what would have been a visual captivating masterpiece, had it been done true to story and characters.

lol at the person who thinks she actress playing Khalan is “rather pretty.” Ugh, talk about bad casting! I for one think she is hideous. Khalan was supposed to be stunningly beautiful, with long hair straight down her back (As a sign of importance, she being the Mother Confessor.) This actress doesn’t come close!

I think I’d rather wash my mouth out with a revolver then sit through another abortion that Raimi ’s turned out in this series - huge kick in the nads to anyone that’s read Terry’s books. I can’t believe what they’ve done to story - those Mother-hugging Lolli-poppers!
The actors are all rotten..my dog could play a more convincing Richard wielding the sword of truth with her paws. She’s a lab and still more intimidating then the little midget boy they cast for the part!
kahlan is frick’n hot though.
