NYC: Thurs. Feb. 12th: Bossy Bear Night…

Toy 2 R Bossy Bear Night

Ugly Doll creator David Horvath (who just released another piece if I’m correct) will be on hand signing all types of goodness.

If you’re not familiar with Yoya Mart or what they have to offer, watch their VIMBY video HERE

Barack Obama Versus Darth Vader!

Yes! I’m a bigger Star Trek fan than I am of Star Wars, but this is AWESOME. Unless some trekkie artists can come up with an action figure of Barack Obama wrestling a Klingon with its traditional weapon.

So sick. For more specs and accessories accompanying the figure, new tab here for ToyCyte.

Sort of angry…

Last night before heading to the land of nod, I made this awesome post about Rockabilly style only to have it completely deleted by some unforseen reason thanks to wordpress…angry_face.jpg

Pictures from Cinema Tuesday’s NOTORIOUS screening…

If I had known this was going to be such a star studded event I would’ve worn a louder VIMBY tee shirt. :)

Nike Sportswear Montalban Notorious screening photo by Marla Aufmuth

Nevertheless this was a grand re-opening for Cinema Tuesdays at the Nike Sportswear Montalban theatre. Notorious has to be one of the biggest and most attended screenings thus far. Both ticketed and RSVP lines filled around the block in a manner that can only be described as controlled chaos. Belvedere Vodka as usual sponsored the open bar with fruity cocktails bordering on wonderfully tasty to dangerously potent. There were paparazzi on the prowl like never before- and here’s why.

While Flux curated the film and Q&A with the director and the actors that played Lil Kim and Puff Daddy, as well as the director. What do I think of the movie? It’s worth seeing as a retrospect but don’t expect fireworks. The actors who played Puff, Lil Kim, Faith, and B.I.G. gave the most outstanding performances, as well as a few actors I’m unfamiliar with. In short it was an AWESOME night, and you can expect Cinema Tuesdays to continue monthly for the duration of 2009 (yesh).

And the people in the photos: Weekend Warriors | URB | This Guy | Macy Gray | Sharon Stone (the camera does her well) | Flo Rida (who posed for 20 pictures not including the one above- you’re supposed to be hard man! *smh* | MC Lyte | Fake ass Tupac | Angela Basset was there but not pictured….

Many thanks to Marla for the photos and Angelique for rescuing me from the melee.

I think I’m going to buy a Gameboy….

I remembered how much fun I had playing Tetris on the joint…I still can remember the music too…sometimes I still hum it to myself. Although I never had a Gameboy, my brother had one and he let me use it (or that’s how I remember it) often enough that it strikes a chord in my heart.

Gameboy

Classico.

Get your own damn Froddo Baggins house!

I thought that sounded HILARIOUS- hilarious I say. Check this out, you can build your own New Zealand styled green home for as little as 5 gs.

Cash, that most basic element of our economy, can be in abysmally short supply for new young families scraping by on marginal jobs.

Sustainable housebuilding may not be foremost in their minds.

But one young couple in Wales managing on an annual income of just $10,000 went ahead and built their own cheap home anyway, sustainably, mostly out of materials from “a rubbish pile somewhere.” New tab to HERE to see how it begins, because THAT is the ending.

I don’t know whether I should share this…

I mean, I already hallucinate (see those fluorescent dots) when I shave my pits and look at the sun too long…to each their own.

N.O.R.E. Gets On Health Kick & Becomes Vegan, Loses 65 Lbs.

I won’t even lie and say that we haven’t joked around about N.O.R.E’s tubbiness in VIMBY HQ. I would like to say that the rap game isn’t as superficial as Hollywood would have you think, but that’s not true at all. Take a look at this swipe…

nore the slimmy

Last year, we saw a much different N.O.R.E. when he surfaced with quite a bit of extra weight on him. However, he’s changing that by getting healthy, and as reportedly lost over 65 pounds.Via his new blog, 57thAve (I would like to injertect by saying N.O.R.E’s blog is hood-tactular lmao, you gotta see for yourself), the rapper said that via a vegan diet and exercise, he’s been able to shed a few pounds, which he’s been documenting in a 12-part vlog.

Despite the weight-loss, it’s still the same old N.O.R.E. though.

“We are switching it up from the Hang Hang Hood Chicken blogs, to the Hang Hang Hood Vegan blogs. Same N.O.R.E., same hood talk,” he said….to finish reading, new tab HERE

Glad to see he’s getting his act together. Maybe this’ll motivate a lot of little tubbers around America (if they even know who N.O.R.E is). However I must note that he isn’t the first rapper to switch styles. I recall Young Jeezy or Young Jock (young someone) and his crew making a $3000 bet to see who could get the fittest.

You can thank BallerStatus for this lovely swipe.
